The Sandhills Motoring Expo (SME) is an annual celebration of automotive culture, history, and enthusiasm held each Memorial Day weekend in and around the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina. What began as a passion for bringing remarkable automobiles and the people who appreciate them together has grown into a full weekend of motoring experiences attracting participants, collectors, enthusiasts, and visitors from across the region and beyond. Set against the distinctive backdrop of the North Carolina Sandhills, the Expo combines exceptional automobiles with driving, social experiences, community partnerships, and Southern hospitality.
The weekend features a diverse schedule of events designed to celebrate virtually every facet of motoring culture, including Motoring Through Moore, the Block Party, Airplanes & Automobiles, the Road Rally, Artisan Tour, Expo Soiree, and the signature Concours in the Village. The Concours transforms the historic Village of Pinehurst into an automotive showcase featuring a curated field of approximately 130 automobiles representing numerous marques, eras, and disciplines – from historically significant classics and sports cars to motorsports, preservation automobiles, modern performance cars, and exotics.
Beyond the automobiles, the Sandhills Motoring Expo is rooted in community involvement and giving back to the region that hosts it. Through its Road to Giving charitable initiative, partnerships with local organizations, volunteers, businesses, and sponsors, and the economic activity generated throughout Expo weekend, SME strives to create a lasting positive impact on Moore County. At its heart, the Sandhills Motoring Expo is more than an automotive event – it is a celebration of the people, stories, craftsmanship, and shared passion that make motoring culture extraordinary.
